BOSTON (WWLP) - President Trump's tax cuts and de-regulation was aimed at keeping manufacturing jobs in the U.S.
Companies across the Commonwealth make medical devices, wind turbines, solar panels, car components, and many others.
During a State House ceremony Tuesday, legislators honored more than 30 Massachusetts manufacturers for their commitment creating and maintaining employment and economic opportunities in the Commonwealth.
Legislators are considering funding for more vocational education programs and promoting apprenticeship opportunities for high school students across Massachusetts.
Springfield-based Advance Welding, a family owned and operated business received an award for their work in the western part of the state.
State lawmakers reassured the manufacturing industry that they'll do everything they can to keep them operating in Massachusetts on Tuesday.
State Senator Eric Lesser said, "In western mass, in particular, manufacturing is an essential element of our economy and it's really an engine for middle-class job growth. People can get a great job at a manufacturer in western mass, and have a really solid middle-class life without $100,000 in student loan debt."
To make sure these businesses can continue to operate in the Commonwealth, lawmakers are looking at ways to lower taxes on products used in the manufacturing industry.
